Event Poster

For this project, I created an event poster of any event of my choosing. The event that I choose was the Plaza Lighting Ceremony in Kansas City, MO. The lighting ceremony happens every year on Thanksgiving night and continues through the holiday season. Every Kansas City native has been to the ceremony at least once in there lives, and even the local TV stations televise the event. Being a Kansas City native myself, I decided to do this event for my poster.

On the poster I focused on the towers and the inspired Spanish architecture of the buildings within the Plaza, along with the color strand lights that are used on the towers. The overall design of the poster is inspired by art deco poster designs.

Lastly, this is not the real poster that is going to be used this year, but this is just a project I did in class, and the times and ending date might be incorrect.

Downtown Memphis Banners

For this project, I created a series of Downtown Memphis banners, featuring different aspects and parts of Downtown Memphis.  I included 5 different sketches of my series (which I will digital paint them later on), and also one completed final.

The parts of downtown that I focused on was the downtown skyline & Mississippi river, Grizzles & Sports, Beale Street & music, Peabody & ducks, fountains & clock tower, and the Memphis Bridge & Pyramid.

The final Memphis banner is digitally painted using Photoshop and also Illustrator.

Colorado Springs Travel Poster

For this project in my Illustration and Type class, I designed a travel poster for a place of my choice. I decided to do Colorado Springs, CO because of how beautiful the rocky mountain landscape is. I decided to show Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and downtown Colorado Springs to show both scale and color.
Instead of working traditionally like I normally do, I decided to digitally paint my image in Photoshop, and work the type in through Illustrator.

Trade Gothic Posters

One of the classes that I am taking this semester is Illustration & Type. These are the first two posters that I designed in the class, which focus on the typeface Trade Gothic. Trade Gothic is a Sans Serif typeface, created by Jackson Burke in 1948. They typeface was commonly used for headlines in newspapers.
Both of these posters were designed on Indesign. The 2nd poster, the newspaper was hand drawn and scanned in. I used both Photoshop and Illustrator before placing it into Indesign.
