Hurry Up and Wait Comic

For this comic, I focused on two characters in the same course of action.  For one character, time moves slowly, while the other character's time moves much faster.

Pacing Comic

For this comic, I had to think about the pacing of the story in the comic.  The story had to first start off slow, and then the pace quickens up with the action, and then end it back at a slow pace again.  This is also known as crescendo and decrescendo.

The way that I did that in my comic was to start it off on a snow day, with a girl starting to build a snowman.  Then, someone comes up and starts throwing snowballs at her.  She starts throwing them back at the other guy, until she hits him really hard with a large snowball.  She laughs and smiles, until her parent peeks out the door and tell her to come back inside.

Kayak

For my second piece in my series about the imagination of the child, I chose my character to be kayaking down a river or stream.  Instead of focusing on the shadows to tell what the child is imagining like in the last piece, this one I decided to focus on the objects that can be used at home to tell what she is imagining.  After seeing the outcome of it, I think that I will probably continue to do what I did in the second piece in some of my other future pieces in the series, since I feel like it shows imagination and play the best.

Exploring is Out There!

Another class that I am taking this semester is Design of Advertising.  Our first project was to make a personal advertisement to advertise ourselves to a design company.  For my advertisement, I wanted to show that I am an illustrator, artist, and designer.  I also wanted to show how playful and adventurous my work is, especially since a lot of my work is geared towards children.  The way that I did that is by digitally painting myself, exploring and discovering new things, like a child.  In the background, I made my drawings and the words "Exploring is Out There" as constellations in the sky.

Stuffed Animal (Expanded)

Last week I posted up a comic about a boy who loses his stuffed animal, using only 4 panels and 4 scenes.  This is the same comic and story, except I expanded it from the original 4 panels to make the story more interesting and complete.

4 Panels, 4 Scenes Comic

For this comic, I had to create a narrative that only uses 4 panels and 4 different scenes. The main inspiration of this comic came from my nephew, who has a stuffed giraffe that he likes to sleep with at night.
