Weekly Self-Portraits, May- June 2015

Since I have moved back to KC after graduating from MCA, I have started doing a weekly self-portrait every Thursday in my sketchbook. Each week, I try to draw my head in a different position, or even use different lighting. I have noticed that every single time that I draw myself, the drawing is always a little bit different.

In each drawing, I use ink wash, pen and ink, and watercolor. I am planning on doing this every single week as long as I can.

Sketchbook Update- Creature Drawings

In my post last week about observational drawing within my sketchbook, I mentioned that I have been also doing creature drawings in my sketchbook also. Once a week, I have been drawing different creatures, even if they are not actually real. These drawings have been fun done to do, especially since it takes a break from drawing realistically all the time. Overall, I have been having fun working on this inside of my sketchbook and I am planning to continue this.

I also forgot to mention in my last post that I have been also experimenting with hand type along with my drawings.

Each drawing was done in watercolor and ink. These were also done between May 20- June 3.

Sketchbook Update- Observational Drawings

Since I have moved back home to KC, I have been drawing almost every single day in my sketchbook. Some of the drawings that I have done have been observational based. I have also been doing other things in my sketchbook like a weekly self-portrait (I will post them up at the end of the month), and other fun drawings of creatures (I'll post that up next week). I am starting to get inspired again to make some artwork, so once I have some pieces done I'll start posting them up.

Also, if you want to see what I'm drawing, sketching, or even painting, follow me on my Instagram, @kathierupert. I update a couple times a week!

These drawings are done by observation. Each drawing was done in with watercolor, ink wash, and ink pen. These drawings were done between May 15-June 2. Enjoy!
