Robot Reading

Back in April, I participated in Dali Day at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art in Memphis, TN.  While I was there, I worked on a painting to demonstrate the process of how an illustration is made.  This is the finished piece.

I decided to do a piece of my robot sitting and reading a book.  My robot almost represents me, because my life almost seems to be taken over by technology, except for some things like books, which gives me a break from staring at a screen all the time.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 52 Card Deck

Over the past semester, I have designed and created a 52 card deck based on the Grimm fairytale story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  This whole project was a learning process for me, since I had to learn how to digitally paint as I continued to work on it.

Project Classified Storyboard

I had the opportunity to work together on a storyboard project with Maysa Sem and Aubrey Palermo in my 3D Illustration Class.  All three of us created our own characters for the project; Maysa created the Alien, Aubrey created the scientist, and I created my astronaut. All three of us worked together in creating the storyboard and environment for our characters.

The overall story is about a scientist working in his lab when the astronaut comes in carrying a large alien egg. When the astronaut sets it on the table, the alien hatches out of the egg. Once the alien hatches out of the egg, it decides to close-up the egg and fall back asleep.

Overall, I really enjoyed and had fun doing this project, and my group members were really great as well!!

Dali Day at the Memphis Brooks

Yesterday I had the opportunity to work with 20 other illustration students from my school at the Memphis Brooks Museum, doing demonstrations on the process of illustration.  I took a break from my regular homework to work on a fun, personal piece (once its done, I'll post the final piece).  And the top picture, is me working/ demonstrating on my illustration.

Astronaut

This is the last character that I got to make for my 3D illustration class this semester.  I created this astronaut for an 11 second storyboard.  I worked in a group of two people, and they also created their own characters (I might post pictures later on this week).  The awesome part is, at least I get to see my character in a 3D form.

Materials: Sculpey (helmet, hands, boots), wire, foam, fabric, cardboard, canvas, shoelaces, and acrylic paint.

Zoodle Drawings!

Starting last October 2013, the illustration department at my school has been going to the Memphis Zoo once a week to draw the animals.  I went every week with my classmates, and tried to draw as many animals as I could.  These are my 10 favorite sketches that I did.
