November- December Weekly Self-Portraits

I haven’t posted in a while, but I am still doing my weekly self-portraits every week! 

These self-portraits were done from November- December 2015. I used inkwash, pen and ink, and watercolor. 

August & September Weekly Self-Portraits

The past two months have been very busy for me. I have been working two jobs which has been keeping me busy, along with drawing in my sketchbook in between. Some self-portraits were quickly drawn, and others I took my time at. I also added my hands, accessories, and even my cat to make them a little bit more interesting. So, here are my weekly self-portraits for both August and September!

Each self-portrait uses ink, pen and ink, and watercolor.

I will be taking a break from weekly self-portraits during the month of October because I will be participating in Inktober.

Weekly Self-Portraits, May- June 2015

Since I have moved back to KC after graduating from MCA, I have started doing a weekly self-portrait every Thursday in my sketchbook. Each week, I try to draw my head in a different position, or even use different lighting. I have noticed that every single time that I draw myself, the drawing is always a little bit different.

In each drawing, I use ink wash, pen and ink, and watercolor. I am planning on doing this every single week as long as I can.

Looking Ahead

This is a self-portrait of myself, that is inspired by my series of work that I have worked on all throughout the school year. This was also my illustration final before graduating.

Summer Self-Portraits

Along with drawing in my sketchbook everyday this summer, I also did a self-portrait every week also. The first one that I did was done on May 15, and the last one that I did was August 11.

August- December 2013

Besides doing illustrations this past semester, I did a weekly self-portrait for the past 15 weeks for my drawing class in my sketchbook.  I used a variety of media, like charcoal, ink, crayon, and chalk pastels.  For some I toned my paper with watercolor or ink, or drew on toned paper.  Some are a lot better than others, but I have enjoyed doing these every week.  I am going to try to keep this going every week to continue to get better.

This illustration is loosely based off of the greek myth of "The Fall of Icarus".  I changed it to be a self-portrait of me, flying away in the city.
